The 2008 Welsh Open was a huge success as the very first darts tournament on Setanta Sports on Sunday, May 18th.
As the opening event in the BDO International Grand Prix Series it augers well for the success of the whole series:

24-го наября (2007г.) в Киеве (Украина) начались командные соревнования по дартс на "Кубок Содружества". Соревнования получили такое название не случайно. В турнире приняли участие команды Беларуси, Молдовы, России, Украины, которую в отличии от приезжих представляли три команды:

WDF RANKING SYSTEM AND THE 2007 WINMAU WORLD MASTERS |

The recent format change in the 2007 Winmau World Masters means that the event is no longer compatible with the points allocation used for the WDF World Ranking System. The WDF system does not allow for the allocation of points to players who only take part in the closing stages of a WDF Ranked event. In an attempt to alleviate this problem, and be as fair as possible to the players, the WDF Executive has determined that WDF Ranking points for the 2007 Winmau World Masters will not be awarded to the eight seeded players who enter the competition for the stage finals. |

Record-Breaking Prize Money For 2008 |

The 2008 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship will have the richest prize fund in the thirty-one year history of the BDO's World Championships.
In its inaugural year of 1978, total prize money was £10,500 and the first ever World Champion, Leighton Rees of Wales, received a cheque for £3,000.
In 2008, the available prize fund is being increased to its highest ever total of £310,000 - with the Men's Champion receiving a cheque for a record-breaking £85,000. |

The flyer for the 2007 Czech Open was published today, and can be downloaded from the WDF Calendar. The event will be played in Prague and is a WDF Category 3 event. The event also carries BDO Invitation Table points for the first time.
